The Toffees drew 3-3 with Sligo Rovers in a pre-season friendly that was overshadowed by a problem with one of the player’s shirts.

Fans spotted the Everton badge on Idrissa Gueye’s shirt had almost peeled off and was flapping in the wind.

Some supporters took aim at kit-maker Castore for the problem, with the manufacturer once again getting in hot water over their kits.

Last season Aston Villa ditched Castore over shirts that clinged to players’ bodies as they sweated during matches.

The wet look was uncomfortable for players and drew criticism for making Villa stars appear “like they just came out of a bath”.

Villa terminated their deal with Castore early and the manufacturer had to produce a new kit for the team to play in for the remainder of the season.

Now Castore have come under fire once again in Everton’s first outing in their new kit.

One fan reacted to the badge almost falling off, saying: “Castore are the worst brand I have ever seen for football shirts…yet clubs still run with them.”

Another added: “Castore is a joke of a brand.”

An Everton supporter wrote: “Been saying this about Castore since the rumours that we were getting them in. Shocking decision from the club.”

And another commented: “We’re a joke.”

It’s not clear if Castore were directly to blame for the issue with the Everton badge.
