The visitors took the lead in the 21st minute as Jarell Quansah deflected in Edson Alvarez’s effort.

However, the lead only lasted four minutes as Diogo Jota beat Lukasz Fabianski to the ball to head home.

The Portuguese forward slotted the hosts into the lead shortly after the restart after some brilliant work from Curtis Jones to create the chance.

As West Ham tried to push for an equaliser, Liverpool wrapped up the match through substitute Mohamed Salah.

The Eygptian slammed home his effort after Fabianski had made a good initial save.

It got even worse for the Hammers as Alvarezx was dismissed for a second yellow card.

Cody Gakpo added the cherry on top of the result with a fantastic brace in the closing stages as West Ham exited the cup with a whimper.
