Jurgen Klopp’s side leaked goals last term as they fell out of the top four.

And while pre-season results can always be taken with a pinch of salt, Liverpool’s high-scoring draw has prompted some concerns.

Luis Diaz gave the Reds the lead on 22 minutes, with his side leading 1-0 at the break.

But American international Julian Green equalised within two minutes of the restart.

Nunez then bagged a double to put Liverpool 3-1 up by the hour mark.

Lukas Petkov pulled one back on 67 minutes, before it was Armindo Sieb’s turn to grab a brace – putting Greuther Furth 4-3 up in the process.

Salah was on hand to spare Liverpool’s blushes on 89 minutes, levelling for Klopp and Co in this goal bonanza.

The Reds started Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate at centre-back – with Andy Robertson on the left and youngster Connor Bradley on the right.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was fielded in midfield alongside Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister.

And teenage wonderkid Ben Doak, 17, joined Diogo Jota and Diaz up front.

Nunez and Salah were brought off the bench by Klopp, in addition to a number of inexperienced youngsters.

After watching the match, one worried fan wrote: “Liverpool would be fortunate to finish Top 4 as things stand. Major strengthening in defence and midfield is a minimum requirement.”

While a second tweeted: “Liverpool had a good summer window with our midfielders but forgot about the defence.”

A third added: “This might be liverpool’s worse defence in history.”
