Liverpool ‘open talks over cut-price transfer for Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa’ as forward’s dropped from squad

LIVERPOOL have reportedly opened talks with Juventus over a cut-price deal for flop forward Federico Chiesa.

The misfit attacker, who can play out wide or through the middle, is up for sale after being axed by new Juve boss Thiago Motta.

Big things were expected of Chiesa when he joined the Turin club four years ago.

But in that time he’s managed just 32 goals in 131 games.

And Juventus haven’t lifted a single Serie A title either —  despite winning the previous nine seasons prior to his arrival.

Chiesa’s inconsistency and injury problems mean he’s now up for sale at just £12.5million — a considerable loss on the £45m Juventus paid for him from Fiorentina.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Chelsea have been monitoring Chiesa in case they fail to land Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

But The Times claims Liverpool are now leading the race.

And Fabrizio Romano adds that Chiesa has already given the green light to a move.

Arne Slot is yet to sign a single player despite being in charge at Anfield for 86 days.

Valencia goalie Giorgi Mamardashvili is set for a £25m switch this week.

But he will remain at his current club until 2025.

And Chiesa could now get the honour of being Slot’s first arrival for his current squad.

Liverpool already boast five forwards in Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.

While their midfield looks light after the Reds were brutally rejected by Real Sociedad superstar and Spain Euro winner Martin Zubimendi.

But it appears Slot wants another attacker for his front line.

And Liverpool will now attempt to get a deal done before deadline day on Friday.
