LUKE LITTLER has received a special invitation to attend the WWE following his run to the final of the PDC World Darts Championship.
The 16-year-old was defeated 7-4 by Luke Humphries in the final of his debut tournament.
Littler’s walkout song has earned him an invite from the WWE[/caption]4.8million people tuned in to watch the final on Sky Sports, making it the most watched non-football event in the broadcaster’s history.
As part of his thrilling run to the final, Littler defeated his hero Raymond van Barneveld in the round of 16 before overcoming Brendan Dolan and Rob Cross in the latter rounds.
And none other than the WWE joined in with praising the teen sensation.
The wrestling organisation’s X account (formerly known as Twitter) posted: “Unbelievable run @LuketheNuke180.”
The unlikely connection came after Littler explained to BBC Radio 1 why he walks out to ‘Greenlight’ by Pitbull.
He told the radio station that he decided to adopt the song after hearing it at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.
When asked about his song choice, Littler said: “It was from WrestleMania 33, back in 2017. I went over [to Orlando, Florida] with my Dad, it was unbelievable.”
And after hearing about the inspiration, WWE invited Littler to attend WWE Live on April 19 in London – claiming they might even play his song for him.
The organisation wrote on X: “We heard #WrestleMania 33 inspired your entrance music on @BBCR1, so you’re officially invited to @TheO2 on April 19 when WWE rolls through London. We might even hit @Pitbull’s “Greenlight” for you.”
But Littler poured cold water on his WWE love affair, writing: “It’s fair to say I don’t like the wrestling anymore.
“I think I’ve grown out of it, but that’s just an experience to be at WrestleMania, and I just took the song off him [Pitbull].”
He was then asked by Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough if Pitbull knew who he was and he said: “I don’t think he does, but I hope he does.”
His invite to WWE follows on from Manchester United inviting him to their game against Tottenham – after he revealed he had been a United fan his whole life.
