Littler finished second in the running to Team GB Olympic hero Keely Hodgkinson.

But his incredible debut season in darts was recognised as he scooped the Young SPOTY trophy.

Littler is now preparing to make his bow at this year’s World Darts Championship.

After finishing runner-up to Luke Humphries in January, Littler is determined to get his hands on the sport’s top prize.

However, there was another pressing on the teenager’s mind last night.

Littler has made no secret of his love for Manchester United.

The ace is a regular visitor to Old Trafford and has even met the current squad at Carrington.

As a result, his idol is none other than Red Devils legend Ronaldo, who won numerous trophies during two spells at the club and now plays in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.

And when asked at SPOTY if he was excited about seeing any of the other big names in attendance, Littler admitted there was just one famous sportsperson he was desperate to meet.

Littler said: “There’s only one person I’d like to meet and that’s Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Fans certainly loved Littler’s blunt honesty and were left excited by the prospect of a future meeting.

One said: “A Littler x Ronaldo collab? Yes please.”

Another declared: “Would be nice of Luke to take time out and meet a fan like Ronaldo.”

To which another replied: “Honestly, would really mean a lot.”

Littler will now look to crown his year with glory at the WDC after finishing second at SPOTY.

After getting his award last night, he said: “It just goes to show how well I have done this year.

“Not only for myself, but I have changed the sport of darts.

“I know the amount of academies that have been brought up in different locations, how big the sport has got.

“Tickets selling out with the Ally Pally in hours and the Premier league selling out – it just goes to show how much I have changed it.”
