There was little to separate Littler and Anderson in the opening stages of their clash.

But the Flying Scotsman moved into the driving seat after winning an incredible six legs in a row to go 11-7 up.

From that point on, the teenage sensation had a mountain to climb.

But Littler was not down and out, fighting back to 13-12 after breaking throw with a stunning 11-dart leg.

Anderson then held onto a cagey leg before testing his young rival by sensationally landing three bullseyes in one visit.

Littler forced his way back to 14-14 to set up a thrilling finale.

But there were to be two more breaks of throw in the match.

The wonderkid from Warrington seemingly wasted his lifeline as Anderson broke to throw for victory.

Yet Littler again produced the magic in the biggest moments, using his get out of jail card again with three 140 or over throws to force a deciding leg at 15-15.

Littler was first to the oche and made no mistake to book his spot in the final.

After the match, Littler said: “This is one of the best games of my life.

“It would obviously be better if I went into the lead like Gary did.

“When we went for the last break I just knew I had to dig deep like I did in the Mike De Decker game. I can’t believe I’ve won.

“I know I’ve got it. But when he is checking out when I’m sat on a double or on his last dart. I was like, ‘Gary just miss’.

“I just said to myself ‘you know it’s there’.

“When he equalised at 14-14, I had a little moment. I went 44, 40. This is not what you need. In the last leg I just threw everything.

“I’ve just got to stay focused. I’m sure Martin Lukeman will be up for it and so am I.”

Either Littler or Lukeman will take home a cheque for £150,000, with the runner-up pocketing £70,000.

Lukeman has vowed to take his wife to the Maldives if he wins after her battle with cancer.
