Luke Littler to get chance for revenge over Humphries NEXT WEEK as Premier League Darts fixtures are announced

LUKE LITTLER will face Luke Humphries on the opening night of the 2024 Premier League Darts.

It will be the pair’s first meeting since the PDC World Darts Championship final at Alexandra Palace on January 3.

Humphries beat the teenage darts sensation 7-4 earlier this month to claim his first world title and scoop the £500,000 prize.

They will now meet again in Cardiff on Thursday February 1 after the fixtures for the Premier League were announced.

Both players will make their debuts in the tournament after being named in this year’s line-up.

Littler joins new world number one Humphries and seven-time winner Michael van Gerwen in the eight-player field.

The other contenders will be Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Rob Cross in a £1million tournament where the winner can earn more than £275,000.

The Prem is staged in cities in six different countries – England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Germany, Holland and Ireland.

Night One in Wales will also pit Wright versus Cross, Welshman Price against Aspinall and Van Gerwen in battle with Smith.

Eight of the sport’s top stars will contest 16 mini-events during the season, with each league night comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the best of 11 legs.

The last night, on Thursday May 23, will be a playoff involving the top four in the table at the O2 Arena in London.

When his involvement was announced, the Warrington ace played down burnout fears — he will be appearing week-in, week-out for FOUR solid months — saying he had spoken about the pitfalls of the invitational event at length with his parents and manager.

Darts prodigy Littler, who turned 17 on Sunday, is fresh off winning his first pro title last Friday.

He beat Van Gerwen in the final to claim the Bahrain Darts Masters and continue his meteoric rise.

Earlier in the tournament, the teenager hit a nine-darter in his quarter-final victory over Nathan Aspinall — the youngest person to achieve the feat in senior competition on TV.

Meanwhile, Humphries’ 20-match winning streak was ended in the quarter-finals by Price.

Speaking about Humphries, Littler said: “He was unbelievable at Ally Pally. That’s why he has won one world title.

“He’s the man to beat now from now on. All focus will be on to him.

“Hopefully, if it is me and Luke in every final, then that would be good.

“You still have all the dangerous players involved, Smithy, Gezzy and Michael van Gerwen. It’s gruelling.”

Both Littler and Humphries are in World Series action again this week at the Dutch Darts Masters in Den Bosch.
