Luke Littler wins another tournament in completely new format after beating Sky Sports darts commentator along the way

LUKE LITTLER and Chris Dobey cruised to victory at the Swedish Darts Festival pairs tournament on Saturday.

The duo beat ex-PDC star turned Sky Sports commentator Wayne Mardle and Madars Razma 2-0 in the first semi-final and went on to face Viktor Tingström and Dennis Nilsson in the final.

Littler and Dobey broke their Swedish opponents straight away after the latter checked out 94.

Teen superstar Littler then ended the match with an 86 checkout to seal the win.

It comes after the 17-year-old suffered a defeat to Michael Smith on night eight of Premier League Darts in Dublin last week.

That meant he was knocked out in the quarter-finals.

Speaking after the match, Littler told Sky Sports: “It’s my first year in the Prem. Some weeks have gone to plan and some weeks haven’t.

“But it’s all about getting the points on the board. Obviously this is the halfway point, whatever happens from now until the end is the crucial part of the Prem.”

Littler has already claimed silverware at both the Bahrain Masters and the Belgian Darts Open since he burst onto the scene at the World Championships.

However, he is yet to win a Premier League Darts night.

Sky Sports pundit Mark Webster admitted Littler “got a bit slack” during his latest match.

He said: “He got 3-1 up and Michael Smith blew him away.

“He got a bit slack and he was working on his technique a bit in legs. It just didn’t happen for him there.

“He can’t dwell on that. He’s still in a great position and go again next week. He’ll be disappointed with the fact he was 3-1 up. He regroups in Belfast.”
