MANCHESTER CITY fans fear “we’ve signed the Croatian Michael Owen” after new defender Josko Gvardiol’s interview went viral.

The Treble winners confirmed the signing of Gvardiol for £78million from RB Leipzig on Saturday morning.

But the pressure of signing for arguably the best team in the world appears to have got to the young Croatian.

The defender was doing a get-to-know type feature for City’s social media content.

But in a rather cringe moment, Gvardiol was asked: “What’s your all time favourite movie?”

To which he awkwardly replied: “I don’t have it”.

The bemused interviewer asked: “None at all?” before following it up with: “What about a TV series?”

Gvardiol replied: “No, I don’t watch it.”

City fans have not held back in their response to the hilarious clip.

One supporter stated: “Crying, we’ve signed the Croatian Michael Owen”.

A second added: “These answers man. What the f*** does he do in his spare time?”.

One sarcastic fan jested: “Wait until you hear these fascinating revelations”.

Another wrote: “No thoughts, just football. Guardiola’s perfect player”.

Another added: “Was he created by AI?”.

Of course, the fan who made comparisons with Michael Owen was referring to the hilarious admission from the ex-Liverpool striker that he’d only ever watched seven movies during his lifetime.

Owen, now a BT pundit, has also been mercilessly mocked on social media for being ‘boring’ and ‘stating the obvious’.

Former Newcastle and Chelsea striker Joe Allon described Owen as having “the personality of a flip-flop”.

Nonetheless, City fans are happy with their new defensive recruit.

He is their second signing of the summer after fellow Croatian Mateo Kovacic arrived from Chelsea for £30m.

Gvardiol, who will wear the No21, could make his debut on Sunday when Guardiola’s side face Arsenal in the Community Shield.
