Man United fans call for STRIP changes after more Scott McTominay heroics – ‘He’s Scotland’s R9’

SEVEN GOALS in seven games for Scotland has cemented Scott McTominay’s place as this campaign’s hero.

There’s no doubt the man they call McSauce has developed an extra spring in his step when he pulls on the dark blue.

He could even have more had he not been harshly denied a stunning free-kick against Spain.

But his equaliser in Georgia equalled a national team record with of seven goals in a qualifying campaign – sharing top spot with Steven Fletcher and team-mate John McGinn.

But his form for the Tartan Army hasn’t quite been matched at Manchester United – and Red Devils fans want to see changes made to take better advantage.

One even called for a change of SHIRT from the club’s historic red while others compared Old Trafford’s defensive midfielder to Ronaldo.

One Red Devils fan said: “I think Man United should design a new jersey that resembles Scotland own specifically for McTominay because he turns to McTerminator whenever he’s playing for Scotland.”

Another added: “The beauty is that, Scott McTominay is a world class player anytime he pulls on the Scotland sleeves.

A third said: “McTominay is literally the new Pogba… s*** for club & elite for country.”

Another pondered a formation change: “Maybe we’ll have McTominay play Antony position after the international break.”

The 26-year-old started the season frozen out by Erik ten hag but two goals in injury time to swing a win against Brentford changed his season a month – and channelled his prolific Scotland style.

On X.com, formerly Twitter, a fan said: “Mctominay is like the Scottish R9, Utd wasting his talent.”

While another picked up on an anomaly and called for greater recognition.

They wrote: “Scott McTominay has more goals this season than Messi. But he won the ballon d’or.”

And it’s not just United fans impressed by Steve Clarke’s central figure.

His form is drawing transfer envy from Premier League rivals: “McTominay at Arsenal in that Havertz role – God, Arteta would have wrapped the league up in March.”

McTominay levelled after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave the hosts the lead.

Scotland have never scored on Georgian soil but when McTominay levelled Georgia regained the advantage through their Napoli star before a late header from Lawrence Shankland salvaged a point and kept alive hopes of a Pot 1 place.
