MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly agreed a deal to sell Nathan Bishop.

That’s with the goalie at the centre of a row with Wrexham.

Bishop was booed by fans during yesterday’s pre-season friendly after leaving Paul Mullin with a punctured lung.

The 23-year-old stopper clumsily wiped out Wrexham’s star man, resulting in him needing hospital treatment.

United’s back-up goalie issued an apology to Mullin on social media following Wrexham’s 3-1 win.

But that didn’t stop boss Phil Parkinson from turning the screw in a heated post-match interview.

And it’s now claimed that Bishop will leave United in a permanent transfer once their US tour is complete.

The Northern Echo says he is set to join Championship side Sunderland, who have already agreed the “framework” of the deal.

Bishop is likely to become the Black Cats’ new No2 following Alex Bass’ loan to Wimbledon.

And the transfer would bring an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford.

Bishop joined United in January 2020 after establishing himself as a top stopper in League One.

But he has failed to make a single senior appearance for the Red Devils.

And after the controversy against Wrexham, Bishop will be hoping for improved fortunes at the Stadium of Light.

Apologising to Mullin on social media, Bishop said: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to Paul Mullin. A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with zero malicious intent at all.

“Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible.”
