MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag wished Jadon Sancho good luck in a short statement following his loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho, 23, returned to the Bundesliga giants on Thursday, two and a half years after leaving them for the Red Devils in a £73million deal.

The English forward has scored just 12 goals and provided six assists in 82 games for Man Utd.

And he has not featured at all since a public spat with Ten Hag in September.

But the Man Utd boss still had some positive words for Sancho when he was asked about him during his press conference on Friday – even if it was a rather blunt response.

Ten Hag said: “I hope he’s doing well, so I wish him the best of good luck. That’s it.

“I hope he’s doing well and he’ll be a success at Borussia Dortmund.”

Ten Hag’s relationship with Sancho fractured after he cited the winger’s “performances in training” as the reason why he was not selected for their trip to Arsenal in September – which resulted in a 3-1 defeat.

Sancho snapped back at his own manager with a social media post claiming he was being made a “scapegoat”.

He was axed from Man Utd’s WhatsApp group and barred from training with the senior side or using any of their facilities, including the canteen.

Both staff and team-mates urged Sancho to back down but he refused.

And he has now secured a switch to Dortmund – where he spent four years, scoring 50 goals in 137 games.

Sancho, who trained with his new team-mates on Thursday, could make his second debut for the German outfit against Darmstadt on Saturday.

He will sport the No10 for the club, citing idol Ronaldinho as the reason he chose the shirt.

Sancho’s Man Utd contract runs until 2026 and his parent club are reportedly paying £100,000 of his weekly £290,000 salary while he is out on loan.

Dortmund will pay Man Utd £3m as part of the deal – which could rise to £3.4m if clauses relating to appearances and Champions League qualification are met.

Dortmund are down in fifth in the Bundesliga table, six points adrift of the top four and a huge 15 behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
