MANCHESTER UNITED could hijack Arsenal’s transfer deal for Benjamin Sesko, reports suggest.

Sesko, 22, scored 21 goals and added six assists in all competitions for German club RB Leipzig this season.

And the 6ft 5″ ace has been identified by Arsenal‘s recruitment team as one of their top targets as they look to add a striker during the summer window.

According to Bild’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, the Gunners are already in talks to try and strike a deal which could climb to as high as £85million.

However, Falk indicates that Arsenal will not be allowed to complete the move without competition.

That rival comes in the form of Man Utd, who are also looking to land a new forward.

But Man Utd are said to have a secret weapon in trying to convince the Slovenian about a deal.

The weapon in question is their director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell.

Sesko was personally watched by Vivell back in April, with Sun Sport revealing how he had a “gentleman’s agreement” with Leipzig to leave for around £60m if a top club tables an offer.

Vivell has already brought Sesko once before, bringing him to RB Salzburg as a 16-year-old in 2019.

The striker scored 29 goals and added 11 assists in 79 games with the Austrian team, before moving to sister club Leipzig in 2023.

Since arriving in Germany he has netted 39 goals and added eight assists in 87 games.

Reports elsewhere claim Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has told Vivell to sign him another attacking midfielder after Matheus Cunha, who is set to join the club in a £62.5m deal from Wolves.

That has sparked rumours of them pursuing a deal to land 20-goal Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, who has an estimated asking price of £50m.
