MANCHESTER UNITED fans labelled Robbie Savage “salty” and “bitter” as they raged at his commentary during their 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen.

The Red Devils threw away the lead on two occasions as their Champions League hopes took a huge blow on Tuesday evening.

Savage, 49, was the co-commentator for the match on TNT Sports.

And some supporters of the club believe his tone towards Man Utd has changed since his son, Charlie, left Old Trafford in the summer.

It came after Savage claimed Marcus Rashford’s controversial dismissal was the correct call.

He said: “I think they [Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves] should take their red shirts off. It doesn’t matter that it’s an accident, it’s a straight red all day long.”

In response, one Man Utd fan said: “Robbie Savage still bitter his son isn’t at the club anymore cos last year he wouldn’t have said it’s a pen.”

Another added: “Is it just me or has Robbie Savage’s views and tone when talking about Man Utd totally changed since his lad got moved on.”

While a third replied: “Very, very bitter. A year ago he’d have been right up our a**e crying about the pen and red.”

And a fourth said: “Can we as a fanbase sign a petition to get Robbie Savage off TNT Sports? So obvious he’s salty his son didn’t make it.”

Savage Jr spent his youth career at Old Trafford – much like his father.

But, unlike his dad, the 20-year-old midfielder made his first-team debut in December 2021.

But he did not feature again for the Premier League giants as the desire for more minutes began to grow.

He eventually departed in July, joining Reading on a four-year deal.

He has played 17 games for the League One outfit so far this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
