FANS are convinced that Erik ten Hag “means business” after they spotted four tactical masterclasses in the win over Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in the stands to watch Manchester United’s rollercoaster 4-3 victory over their rivals in the FA Cup to secure a semi-final against Coventry.

Scott McTominay got the Red Devils off to a flyer but Alexis Mac Allister and Mo Salah put the visitors ahead before the break – with both goals enraging Roy Keane.

Substitute Antony struck at the end of normal time to send the clash into extra-time, only for Harvey Elliott’s deflected effort to restore Liverpool’s lead.

Marcus Rashford struck late on to seemingly send it to penalties – but there would be another, late, dramatic twist.

Another sub, Amad Diallo, fired home after a counter-attack in the final seconds to win it 4-3.

However, Amad’s celebrations were cut-short after he removed his shirt and got sent-off after picking up his second booking.

As Ten Hag chased the game in normal time, he firstly introduced Antony and Harry Maguire off the bench, with both going on to have huge impacts.

Christian Eriksen replaced Kobbie Mainoo in midfield before the Dutchman went a little more gung-ho as centre-back Raphael Varane made way with only a few minutes left and the matchwinner Diallo took his place.

However, after Antony’s late leveller that forced Ten Hag into a reshuffle in extra time, but before any major changes were made, they found themselves trailing again through Elliott.

At the break of the additional thirty minutes, Ten Hag had one last throw of the dice as tried to put the Reds on the backfoot.

Midfielder Mason Mount came on for defender Victor Lindelof, and that resulted in skipper Bruno Fernandes moving back and finishing the match at centre-half as the ambitious change paid off for United.

Some may believe it was luck, but others were quick to praise Ten Hag’s tactics.

One fan wrote on X: “All those who doubted Ten hag tactics come outside.

“Fernandes at center back.

“All subs were the right one’s to make.

“He went all in to win by subbing attackers for defenders.

“Antony finishing at left back.

“He means business.”

Another agreed, writing: “Ten hag tactics spot on.”

A third said: “What a FA Cup game fair play to Liverpool but my god ten hag tactics were genius.”

A fellow fan said: “This is by far Erik Ten Hag’s best match as Manchester United boss.”

While a fifth said: “Fair play to Ten Hag he got those subs spot on today.

“I know we were outplayed for long spells and there are some recurring issues but we hung on in there and we got a result.

“Both teams had chances to win it but we took ours and Liverpool didn’t take enough of theirs.”
