It will bring to an end his 22-year affiliation with Man Utd – who he joined at the age of just five.

And he had an emotional exchange with a fan as he left the stadium for what could be the final time.

After being handed the bracelet, he said: “No way.”

The fan added: “To remember United.”

Before McTominay replied: “Thank you very much, that’s so sweet. I’m gonna put it on. That will stay with me forever, that.”

He then posed for a picture with the ecstatic supporter in a touching moment that led to praise for the Scotland international.

One social media user said: “Top guy man, top professional.🙂

While another added: “Respect Scott 👏 🙌 🙏.”

McTominay’s Man Utd contract expires at the end of the season, with the Red Devils possessing the option of extending it by 12 months.

But they would rather offload him before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

McTominay’s sale will go down as “pure profit” as he is from the club’s academy.

He has played 255 times for Man Utd, scoring 29 goals.
