Legendary top scorer Wayne Rooney showed class is permanent by curling a sumptuous free-kick into the top corner.

Berbatov, 43, caught a picture with Rooney, 38, in the dressing room before sharing the selfie to Instagram.

The Hungarian captioned his post: “The Odd Couple.”

However, Red Devils fans were left stunned at his youthful appearance.

Reacting to the post on Instagram, one said: “Berba, give Wazza your anti-ageing cream…”

A second said: “Give him your workout routine.”

A third said: “Funniest part is Berba is older but looks younger than Rooney.”

A fourth added: “What we’d give to have these pair back in their prime at OT.”

Another said: “Can you both comeback from retirement please?”

Between them, the pair have 708 appearances for United and scored 309 times.

Other former stars including Danny Simpson and Phil Bardsley returned to Old Trafford as well, with the former teasing a 3v3 boxing fight alongside Bardsley and Rooney.

The return of a number of club legends also prompted fans to ask for them to come out of retirement.

With the likes of Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher putting in a stunning midfield display, and some going as far as saying the former could start in their midfield now.

United’s next game takes them away to Southampton, where Erik ten Hag‘s side will be desperate to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.
