It came just a month after he stepped down as chief executive of Eredivisie giants Ajax.
But Van der Sar was moved out of intensive care two weeks after being admitted to hospital.
And after the haemorrhage was deemed non life-threatening, he has since gone on to make a full recovery.
Van der Sar was even spotted at Old Trafford for United’s incredible 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa.
And he has now opened up for the first time over his traumatic experience.
Van der Sar told De Telegraaf: “My health is doing well, I didn’t get much damage from it, I think.
“But I have never spent a day in the office from 9am to 5pm. But no, I’m fine.”

Van der Sar also revealed he’s been relaxing in the Caribbean with his wife, while joking he’s avoided former Netherlands colony Curacao as there’s “too many Dutch people.”
Van der Sar spent six years at United between 2005 and 2011 following a bargain £2million move from Fulham.
He played 266 times as the Red Devils won four Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Before Fulham, Van der Sar spent two years at Juventus.
But it was his time at first club Ajax where he made his name, winning four Dutch titles while also being part of the famous young side that won the 1995 Champions League final against defending champions AC Milan.
