Man Utd legend Edwin van der Sar has savage response to Red Devils keeper Altay Bayindir and fans ‘don’t understand why’

LEGENDARY Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had a strange response after Altay Bayandir named him as his favourite Manchester United goalkeeper.

Bayandir signed for Manchester United on deadline day on a £4.3million deal from Fenerbache.

But van der Sar says he prefers Onana to Bayandir[/caption]

He has played second fiddle to Andre Onana, who also arrived this summer from Inter Milan for £47million from Inter Milan.

Van der Sar and Onana have a good relationship dating back to when van der Sar was chief executive of Ajax while Onana was their no1.

In a video posted by Manchester United’s Instagram account, Bayandir was asked who his favourite goalkeeper was.

He said: “When I was younger, I watched a lot of games of Manchester United and my favourite goalkeeper was Edwin van der Sar.

“Van der Sar is a legend of Manchester United. I know him.”

But rather than accept the compliment, Van Der Sar left a rather frosty comment on Manchester United’s Instagram.

He wrote: “Hi Altay, will see you soon in Manchester and we will have a chat about goallkeeping but my favourite is still Andre as you will know!”

Most Manchester United fans were confused as to why a club legend had to publicly choose sides over the goalkeepers on a public forum.

One fan wrote: “I honestly don’t understand the point of this comment.”

Another commented: “But he said something nice about you sir. I don’t understand. ”

A third wrote: “What’s the point of inlcluding Onana in this comment?? He is not even mentioned here. He was just praising you.”
