MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand labelled West Ham fans calling for David Moyes to be sacked “disrespectful” and “ridiculous”.
The Hammers sit sixth in the Premier League table and are through to the last 16 of the Europa League, despite having lost talisman Declan Rice in the summer.
Some West Ham fans remain unhappy with manager David Moyes[/caption]Moyes, 60, led West Ham to sixth and seventh place finishes in the Premier League in 2021 and 2022, before they won the Europa Conference League last season.
But a tough patch of form has seen them eliminated from the FA Cup by Championship side Bristol City, before they conceded a late equaliser at Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.
However, Ferdinand was adamant ahead of West Ham’s 2-2 draw with The Blades that the club need to stick with the ex-Everton and Manchester United boss.
Speaking on TNT Sports, he said: “I can’t believe it, I need to speak to the fans.
“What are you really expecting, what are you asking for from David Moyes?
“I’ve seen disgruntled people not happy with David Moyes and asking if he should be changed.
“When you look at [it], they won a European competition last year, they’ve spent the £100m from Declan Rice exquisitely well – fantastically well – they’re all playing in the team and doing well and they’re sixth in the league.
“You have to be realistic sometimes. I just think it’s disrespectful even to be asking about David Moyes now because I think he’s done a fabulous job here and I think you can’t ask to have it all.

“You have to understand where West Ham are as a football club.
“To question [Moyes] is ridiculous considering where West Ham have been at times.
“They’ve been in the Championship, they’ve been languishing sometimes in the Premier League, but they’re in a really healthy state at the moment and I think you’ve got to sit back at some point and say ‘Be careful what you wish for’.”
Moyes’ men now head into a tricky set of fixtures as they prepare to face Bournemouth, Manchester United and Arsenal.
West Ham are yet to bring any new players in during the January transfer window.
But SunSport exclusively revealed on Saturday they are lining up a bid for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface – who has also been linked with Newcastle and Chelsea.
