MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly lining up a £100million double swoop on Bayer Leverkusen to bolster their defence.
The German side have proved to be the surprise package in the Bundesliga under Xabi Alonso this season.
Leverkusen centre-half Edmond Tapsoba is being chased by Man Utd[/caption] Ex-Man City ace Jeremie Frimpong is another Leverkusen star wanted by United[/caption]Leverkusen beat reigning champions Bayern Munich 3-0 on Saturday, extending their lead at the top to five points.
Defenders Jeremie Frimpong, 23, and Edmond Tapsoba, 25, have both played a key role in that success with Leverkusen only conceding 14 times in 21 top-flight matches.
However, as their manager Alonso continues to be linked with Liverpool, the club could face another fight for two of its star men.
Manchester Evening News are reporting that United have been keeping tabs on their progress throughout the campaign.
And the pair have both been shortlisted as potential targets in the summer transfer window.
Dutch international right-back Frimpong was previously in Man City’s academy but left the Etihad for Celtic in 2019 having failed to make a senior appearance for the Cityzens.
He enjoyed two years at Parkhead before heading to Leverkusen, where he is under contract until 2028.
United have also reportedly earmarked Burkina Faso ace Tapsoba as a new recruit, although he is also under contract until 2028.

The interest in Frimpong comes amid Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s uncertain future at Old Trafford.
United triggered a 12-month extension two months on his deal but opted against offering him a long-term one.
Meanwhile, a potential swoop for Taspoba comes with both current United centre-backs Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans being out of contract in June.
However, Leverkusen would demand at least £100m for the pair should they decide to cash in.
