MANCHESTER UNITED have recalled striker Charlie McNeill from his loan at Stevenage.
The forward, 20, joined the League One side on Deadline Day in the summer transfer window.
And he hit the ground running in the third tier by scoring on his debut in a 3-0 win away at Leyton Orient.
But he has not played a single minute for Stevenage since September 23 and has not even been included on the bench for any of their last nine league matches.
In total, he has started just three games for Steve Evans’ men – who sit seventh in League One.
Now Erik ten Hag‘s men have cut his season-long loan short.
Evans, who has also released Kristztian Hegyi back to West Ham and Harrison Neal to Sheffield United, said: “I am grateful to those clubs and of course to the lads who were a real credit. I have spoken with each of them individually and thanked them.
“Everyone wanted them to have more game minutes, but our own players have been producing some brilliant performances, so it has been difficult for them.”
It is understood McNeill will remain with Man Utd until the end of the campaign.
He is expected to feature in Premier League 2 matches for the Red Devils’ U21 side.

But McNeill may feel he can force his way into Man Utd’s first team as Ten Hag’s forwards are struggling to hit the back of the net.
Midfielder Scott McTominay is the club’s top scorer in the Premier League with five goals.
Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are the only other Red Devils players to have netted more than once in the league.
