It is another step being taken by new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the British billionaire looks to completely restructure the club both on and off the pitch.

The Athletic claim Vivell will lend expertise around talent ID and player recruitment.

He is set to remain at Old Trafford until the end of next year’s January window, a report from Florian Plettenberg suggests.

The Red Devils are currently waiting for him to receive a work permit.

Vivell previously spent seven months with Chelsea as a technical director.

He oversaw the addition of eight first-team players and a record January spend.

Chelsea spent over £300million on January transfers alone during the German’s short time at Stamford Bridge.

Among the arrivals were £107million man Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana.

Newcastle confirmed the switch in a statement that revealed a “confidential” agreement had been struck.
