CASEMIRO has joined a number of other top footballers in ditching Nike for a more lucrative boot deal elsewhere.

The Brazilian midfielder has worn Nike football boots since making his professional debut back in 2011.

However, during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday he was spotted wearing Adidas Predators.

Casemiro, 31, announced his partnership with the sportswear brand on the same day as the Villa Park clash.

It comes after Nike moved to a cost-saving strategy in a bid to save $2billion over the next three years.

It is a move which has not gone down well with many players who were previously ambassadors for the American company, with many stars heading elsewhere for their boot deals.

Fellow Man Utd star Lisandro Martinez swapped Nike for Adidas in 2023.

Meanwhile, the likes of Harry Kane (Sketchers), Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic and Manuel Akanji (all Puma) have also left Nike in the last 12 months.

SunSport exclusively reported how Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham helped to design the new Predator boots for its 30th anniversary.

Sam Handy, head of product for adidas football, told SunSport: “We work very closely with an amazing group of pro players who are involved in the feedback from early testing prototypes and adjustments.

“We worked with Jude on this Predator and heard his first reactions when we got the boot in front of him.

“He has been a key part of our development of the boot from a performance perspective.

“We are working closely with him for future generations, follow-up colourways where we build special editions for Jude based directly on his input.

“He is very integrated into our creation process. He is a dear partner of the brand.”

The boot has also seen the return of the old-school foldover tongue for the first time since 2002 – with Bellingham and new adidas signing Trent Alexander-Arnold enjoying early access.
