MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly expected to make a huge loss on Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman is set to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan in the January transfer window.
Van de Beek, 26, arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 as part of a £40million transfer from Ajax.
It was expected that the Bundesliga side would have the option to buy the midfielder for £13m next summer.
However, United could be set to make an even bigger loss than first thought.
The Athletic have claimed that Frankfurt could make the transfer permanent for just £9.5m.
This means that United could potentially lose up to £30.5m on the once highly-rated midfielder.
The report does suggest that the deal would include add-ons, which could soften the financial blow.
Van de Beek will remain available for United until the end of the month as he is thought to make his exit on January 1.
This season, the Dutch international has only featured twice for the Red Devils.

Van de Beek has made one outing in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup.
In both matches, he failed to score or assist a single goal.
He netted 40 goals in his final three seasons at Ajax and was expected to make a similar impact at Old Trafford.
But Van de Beek failed to find his rhythm under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and was pushed further down the pecking order by Ralf Rangnick.
Even fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag has failed to get a tune out of him since becoming manager.
And Van de Beek will be hoping for better fortunes at Frankfurt alongside stars including World Cup winner Mario Gotze and goalie Kevin Trapp.
