Man Utd vs Tottenham preview
How to solve this puzzle.
Old Trafford will host Sunday’s Premier League encounter between two of the division’s most unpredictable competitors in Manchester United and Tottenham.
The Red Devils had looked like they’d finally turned the corner after two promising victories over Southampton and League One Barnsley.
But that progress came to an abrupt halt when failing to beat Crystal Palace or FC Twente in Wednesday’s Europa League opener.
Erik ten Hag said his side “ate Crystal Palace alive” in the last top-flight outing, but questioned their mentality against FC Twente.
United had 18 attempts on goal and 55% possession, but still ended the contest with an xG of 1.49 and only one goal.
That shouldn’t really be a surprise to supporters as Ten Hag’s side have the third highest xG in the Premier League this season (9.6) but have scored just five goals – only Southampton have a bigger negative difference between their goals and expected goals.
They’ll need to be especially clinical this weekend given only Manchester City have conceded fewer shots on goal.
As for Spurs, they enter the showdown in three successive victories in all competitions, although they’ve only picked up one point from a possible six away from home in the league.

Booked
This could well be a feisty encounter on Sunday. That wouldn’t be a huge surprise given the pair have a combined 27 bookings this season. It’s set to be a huge battle in midfield and that could see Premier League newbie Manuel Ugarte go in the referee’s notebook.
The Uruguayan, 23, picked up seven bookings for a dominant PSG side last season and has amassed 51 cautions in 204 career appearances. He’ll be eager to make a big impression on his home league debut and a card looks a good bet at 7/4 with William Hill.

Really?
Yes, I’m backing him again because he simply has to find the net at some point.
Bruno Fernandes has had more shots without scoring than any other Premier League player this season. He’s registered 17 attempts and eight on target – which is comfortably more than any of his Manchester United colleagues.
He has an xG of 1.86, which is the 18th best of any player in the entire division. Bruno remains the club’s penalty taker and has struck three goals with two assists in eight games against Spurs.
