Things could go from bad to worse for Everton too with Leeds, Leicester and Burnley reportedly readying a £300million compensation claim against the club.

If ordered to settle Everton will enter administration – and could even face a further nine-point deduction – as new owners 777Partners will reportedly be unable to pay up.

And that means they could be forced to sell some of their prized assets.

United are understood to have a long-term interest in Amadou Onana and could make a move for the midfielder if Everton are plunged into uncertainty, report The Express.

The Red Devils considered signing Onana in the summer – a transfer that seemingly would have proved popular amongst the fanbase.

However Everton could demand a significant fee to let Onana leave regardless of their circumstances, having set his asking price at £50m in the summer.

United are also said to be interested in youngster Jarrad Branthwaite.

The defender has caught the eye since breaking into the Everton first-team under Sean Dyche, having impressed on loan at PSV last season.

The Red Devils have drawn up a four-man shortlist which includes Jean-Clair Todibo, who plays for Ratcliffe-owned Nice.
