MANCHESTER UNITED target Manuel Ugarte has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener on Friday.

Ugarte is desperate for a move after agreeing personal terms with Old Trafford – but the clubs disagree over his price tag.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Ugarte is out of PSG’s squad against Le Havre.

“He wants to join United. The deal is still absolutely on. But it will depend on conditions wanted by PSG.”

The Uruguayan star’s removal suggests that PSG are anticipating a sale, with other European clubs also interested in the midfielder.

The move stalled after United disagreed with the French club’s £51m asking price – which is what PSG paid Sporting for him last summer.

Instead, Old Trafford chiefs value Ugarte at £42m and are waiting for the Parisians to soften their stance.

United won’t overpay and have already began exploring alternative midfield options including the likes of Sander BergeYoussouf Fofana and Nottingham Forest star Danilo.

Ugarte’s agent Jorge Mendes flew to England on Tuesday to revive talks.

Erik ten Hag is keen on adding Ugarte to his depleted midfield, as Casemiro struggled in pre-season and Scott McTominay has been linked with Fulham.

And Ugarte’s exclusion from PSG’s training sessions this week, and opening fixture, has left United fans excited.

One wrote: “He will join Manchester United next week.”

A second said: “Manuel Ugarte is doing his part with Jorge Mendes. Up to Man United to do their part.”

A third added: “United should sign him, we surely need a cover for Casemiro and he ticks all the boxes!”

Why De Ligt is the perfect Man Utd signing

By Lee Scott

One of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag’s biggest headaches has been fixing their leaky defence.

Despite still not being anywhere near his peak years De Ligt has built considerable experience so far in his career with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich and he has 45 caps at senior level for the Dutch national team.

While he is not necessarily a highly modern ball playing type of defensive player he is a player with the defensive strengths and instincts to help shore up a United defence that was, at best, leaky last season.

He has a great ability to read the game which was one of the biggest issues that we saw from the United defensive unit last season.

De Ligt is also a master in one-on-one situations, who shows strength and intensity in his duels.

The Dutch star does a good job in keeping things simple and tends to make good decisions in possession.

The pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt makes perfect sense for United and for Ten Hag as a young defender who is still to reach his peak.

He has considerable experience at a high level and he understands the game model and system of play of the manager.
