MARCUS RASHFORD could match a bizarre England record in the next few days.

If he comes off the bench against Brazil and Belgium, the winger will join Jermain Defoe in making the most substitute appearances for the Three Lions.

Since making his senior England debut in 2016, Rashford has made 59 appearances, 33 of which have come off the bench.

The 26-year-old has established himself as an important player for Gareth Southgate over the years.

In 59 outings he has scored 17 goals and provided six assists.

And should he make the squad for this summer’s European Championships, it will be his fifth major international tournament.

The only player with more substitute appearances than Rashford is ex-Sunderland and England striker Defoe.

Defoe made 57 appearances for the Three Lions, 35 of which came as a substitute.

Jordan Henderson is also in the top 10 with 26 substitute appearances from 81 games.

Many fans were baffled when the former Liverpool man received a call-up last week given his form since leaving Anfield.

The remainder of the list is made up of James Milner, Kieron Dyer, Owen Hargreaves, Joe Cole, Phil Neville, Peter Crouch and Emile Heskey.

England face Brazil and Belgium in friendlies this week ahead of Euro 2024.

Southgate faces a mini injury crisis ahead of the fixtures, with Harry Kane likely to miss out.

Bukayo Saka withdrew from the squad on Thursday due to an injury problem.
