LANDON EMENALO, the son of former Chelsea chief Michael, has been fast-tracked into first team training by Mauricio Pochettino, reports suggest.

Emenalo was a key figure during Roman Abramovich‘s era as owner of the Blues in his role as technical director.

Now his 16-year-old son Landon is poised to make his Chelsea Under-21 debut tonight, according to the Evening Standard.

The midfielder is said to be “highly thought of” within the club’s Cobham academy.

This has prompted Chelsea chiefs to try and give him a push in his development by getting him to train with the first team following his 16th birthday last week.

And he will be part of Mark Robinson’s squad for the Premier League Cup match against Colchester.

Described as a versatile left-footer, Emenalo has featured in various roles across central midfield.

He has played as a holding midfielder, a box-to-box midfielder and as an attacking No10, while even lining up at left-back.

Emenalo, born in London, has played for both the United States and England youth set ups, scoring in his most recent call up for the Young Lions.

He is also eligible to follow in his father’s footsteps and feature for Nigeria.

Emenalo senior is currently in a director of football role in the Saudi Pro League.

He joined Chelsea in 2007 as a chief scout before he became assistant first team coach in 2010 and technical director in 2011, before finally leaving the role in 2017.

Landon’s older brother Sebastian, 17, has taken up a different sport in basketball.
