Who is Andre August and where is he from?

Andre August, 35, is an American professional boxer from Beaumont, Texas.

The 35-year-old’s debut fight came back in May 2013 where he defeated Steven Medrano via TKO.

The boxer then went on an undefeated run of six fights.

While August is a relative unknown in the world of boxing, it marks the first time that Paul has fought an out and out boxer.

And that is reflected in his tweet where Paul says: “Just straight boxing” as it now appears the YouTuber will be moving away from exhibition bouts and towards becoming a fully-fledged professional.

What is Andre August’s boxing record?

According to BoxRec, August has contested 12 professional bouts, winning 10 with five by knockout.

His only defeat came against fellow American boxer Eric Abraham in 2018.

And his latest victory came against the until then undefeated 7-0 Brandon Martin which he won unanimously on points.

August has the most experience and KOs of any opponent Paul has faced in his career.

When is Andre August and Jake Paul’s fight?

Andre August and Jake Paul are set to clash in the boxing ring on December 15, 2023, at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida.

Start times for the highly-anticipated event, which will be shown live on DAZN, are expected to be announced in due course.

According to combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, the fight will take place at cruiserweight and consist of eight rounds.

Confirming the fight on X, formerly known as Twitter, Paul wrote: “Ask and I shall deliver. August has more KO’s than me, more wins than me, more experience than me, but I like to gamble.

“The path to world champ starts here. Just straight up boxing.”

Paul also listed four reasons why his opponent August was a good choice after many fans were left underwhelmed when the Texan was announced as his opponent – following big-name battles with Diaz, Tommy Fury and Anderson Silva.

He said: ”Boxer true and true. Better record than me. More wins by KO than me. Same weight.”

Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Andre August issued a warning.

The boxer said: ”I don’t talk very much. I’m all about that action.

”Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources, but he doesn’t have my hunger.

”When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”
