THE apple does not fall too far from the tree, in this case.
Tiger Woods is known as one of the greatest golf players to have ever lived.

Now 49, he is tied for first in PGA Tour wins, ranks second in men’s major championships, and holds numerous records.
But while his performances have have declined in recent years, because of a number of health issues and setbacks, it’s his kids that could carry his name in the future.
Both son Charlie and daughter Sam certainly seem to have inherited Tiger’s sporty gene.
They are making their own way – with Charlie showing insane promises as a golfer, himself, and Sam proving to be a decent footballer.
Woods’ kids are well on their way, as SunSport reveals below.
Meet the kids
The US sports legend shares Sam 17, and Charlie, 16, with ex-wife Elin Nordegren.
He has spoken in the past about how proud he is of their athletic achievements.
Woods always makes sure he takes time out of his schedule to see them play.
He told Sports Illustrated: “I just love being with them and seeing what they’re doing, what they’re capable of doing — the joys, the shifts of interest.
“It’s just fun. We have a great time together,” Tiger added.
Back in 2018, he also gave a clue to a shared interest both Sam and Charlie had.
“They’re keen into soccer,” he told Golf.com.
“If they want to play golf, that’s great. If they don’t, that’s fine, too. As long as they have a good time playing sports.”
Their chosen sports
Sam has chosen to play football, with Woods revealing why.
“She has, I think, a negative connotation to the game because at that time… when she was growing up, golf took daddy away from her,” Tiger explained.
“I had to pack, and I had to leave and I was gone for weeks and there was a negative connotation to it.
“So we developed our own relationship, our own rapport that’s outside of golf that we do things that don’t involve golf.
“Meanwhile, my son and I, we do everything golf-related. It’s very different.”

Sam excels on the football pitch
Over the weekend, Tiger was in attendance to cheer on Sam from the stands in her state semi-final soccer match in Florida.
Her team, Benjamin High School needed extra-time to beat four-time reigning champions Lakeland Christian 2-1 in the Florida Class 2A tournament.
Pictures from the stadium in DeLand showed Sam – wearing the No28 – kicking the ball while her dad went through the emotions on the sidelines.
Head coach Hillary Carney said: “The defence really led the team all year.
“It was a matter of keeping the door shut and not letting them score and knowing we would get one, maybe two.
“So it was really the stalwart defence leading the way with Emily being in goal and Sam being that senior in the back just settling everything.”
Sam has also been selected by the athletics team to compete in the hurdles and middle-distance events.

Charlie’s a chip off the old block
Charlie Woods isn’t going to be left behind by his older sister’s athletic prowess.
He has already shown his incredible talent for golf from a young age.
In 2020, he won a nine-hole kids tournament, blowing the opposition away to win by five strokes.
A video went viral of Charlie’s swing at the event at the Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Florida, as he shot a blistering three-under 33 in the tournament, with three birdies and no bogeys on the scorecard.
His caddie for that occasion was none-other-than his old man.
Tiger told GolfTV of his son at the time: “He’s starting to get into it, he’s starting to understand how to play.
“He’s asking me the right questions. I’ve kept it competitive with his par, so it’s been just an absolute blast to go out there and just, you know, be with him.
“It reminds me so much of me and my dad growing up.”
Since then, they have been regulars at the PNC Championship where they play as a pair.
Back in December, Charlie made headline news on the par-3 fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, where he hit a hole-in-one.

Father and son embraced after the remarkable achievement as the crowd around then cheered.
As they walked to the next hole, Tiger reminded Charlie he would have to buy a round of drinks for everyone.
Needless to say, if he makes it pro – he won’t mind putting his hand in his pocket.
