MICHAEL EDWARDS is set to be handed complete control of football matters at Liverpool.
Having left his job as sporting director in 2022, Edwards is set to return as head of football.
Edwards will lead the search to replace departing manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer while he will be in charge of all future transfers.
Richard Hughes is also set to join Liverpool as technical director after he leaves Bournemouth at the end of the season.
The reshuffle will also include Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan, who has been named CEO of FSG International.
He will work on the rapidly-expanding FSG portfolio that also includes the Boston Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Steelers, RFK Racing and the company’s real estate and sports management divisions.
So while Hogan will remain at Anfield, he will hand over the football side to Edwards who clashed with Klopp towards the end of his first spell.
Julian Ward and Jorg Schmadtke have both left Liverpool since succeeding Edwards.
Edwards will have a mammoth task of finding the new boss to take The Reds forward following Jurgen Klopp’s exit.
The German boss has been a revelation during his time on Merseyside winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
