MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has underachieved given his talent, claims darts referee Russ Bray.
The Green Machine is a multiple world champion and has won plenty of other titles in the game.
Van Gerwen should have won a lot more, claims ref Russ Bray[/caption]But Bray feels his considerable talent means he should have even more titles to his name.
Ladbrokes ambassador Bray said, via the Express: “You know, I say Michael van Gerwen has underachieved.
“I know he’s won three world titles, and a million others. But he’s underachieved, in my opinion, because he’s that good, that he could have won a lot more. I’m not talking about one or two titles, I’m talking a hell of a lot more.
“One example, he got beat in the final of the UK Open a couple of years back, by Andrew Gilding.
“I’m not disrespecting Gilding, but nine times out of ten, Michael van Gerwen will beat him. That’s another title gone. So, Michael has underachieved.”
As well as his three world titles, Van Gerwen has dominated the Premier League in recent years.
He won the competition seven times between 2013 and 2023, up against the seven best players in the world.
The Dutchman also has six Grand Prix titles to his name, three Grand Slams and three World Matchplays.
