Michael van Gerwen reveals plan to buy shock new vehicle if he wins World Darts after £250k Rolls Royce purchase

MICHAEL van Gerwen will not splash out on a flash Ferrari if he wins a fourth world title.

The dynamic Dutchman once bought a Rolls-Royce Phantom after taking the top przie at the Ally Pally.

Van Gerwen plans to treat himself to a new car

But MVG, who plays Richard Veenstra in the third round on Wednesday night, admits he doesn’t go for a sports car.

He said: “Now I’m going to treat myself to a lorry.

“It’s not just about treating yourself, it’s about how to perform well and giving yourself the ability to win that trophy and everything that comes with it.

“I don’t fancy a Ferrari, they are too small for me. I have been sitting in a Lamborghini before and I don’t like it. Not for me.

“But first you have to win, I don’t deserve it at the moment.”

MVG faces a far more awkward opponent in Veenstra after breezing past Keane Barry in his opener.

He added: “I was focused again and you want to create a good vibe and a good rhythm for yourself. I think it worked out quite well for me.

“I know there’s still a lot of work to do. To know you have played well in the first round gives you a lot of energy.

“I know how to prepare for this huge and immense stage. The pressure is on my shoulders constantly. You don’t want to ruin things for yourself, so that’s why you keep battling.”

Van Gerwen has been open in his status as a car collector.

The Dutchman still has his first Vauxhall Astra but has added some serious wheels to his garage.

His pick ups include a Rolls Royce Ghost worth £250,000 and several heavy duty BMWS.
