MICHAEL ‘VENOM’ PAGE scored the biggest win of his UFC career with a stunning display against Shara Magomedov.

The long-time fan favourite moved up to middleweight on Saturday night to take on the kickboxing phenom in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 250 in Saudi Arabia.

Page, 37, revealed to SunSport this week that he was eyeing a huge knockout victory over the new cult figure.

The Londoner was unable to get the finish but delivered a dominant display that saw the judges turn in 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 scorecards.

“Look at me. I am the captain now,” Page said in reference to Magomedov’s ‘Pirate’ moniker. “I am the captain now.”

Both men looked to use their feints to get a read on the other close the distance early doors.

MVP looked to land his patented leaping overhand left before the two-minute mark but missed and briefly found himself in a guillotine.

But landed it a minute and a half later and drew a big reaction from the pro-Magomedov crowd.

Page closed a tense first by narrowly missing a spinning wheel kick a split second before the horn.

Page’s brilliant distance management in the second allowed him to avoid hard low kicks early in the second.

Magomedov started to become visibly frustrated as the round wore on, so much so that he found himself on the receiving end of a stiff one-two.

He almost ate a huge flying knee a few seconds later but managed to get his head off the centre line.

Confidence soon started to ooze out of Page, so much so that he started sticking his tongue out as he circled out of range.

Magomedov’s corner urged him to empty the tank between the final rounds as they were well aware he was down two rounds.

But closing the distance and landing his own strikes proved to be nigh-on impossible due to Page’s incredible elusiveness.

Page snapped back the head of the pirate with a huge flying knee on the stroke of the midway point of the round.

A frustrated Magomedov started to walk Page down with a minute and a half of the round left and found a home for a right hand.

But Page managed to stay out of range of a knockout blow, although he threw himself into the fire with a rolling thunder kick seconds before the final horn.
