Ten Hag has failed to keep up with the pack in the Premier League this season with United currently 16 points off top spot.

While Arsenal are mounting a title challenge under the guidance of Arteta, who has reinvigorated the fans at the Emirates Stadium since his arrival in 2019.

However, despite Arteta winning two FA Cups and making 150 appearances for the Gunners as a player, Ferdinand still thinks the lure of the Man Utd would turn his head should the opportunity arise.

Speaking on Vibe with Five, he said: “Mikel Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100 per cent.

“No one is saying it’s happening but if Man United in a wild dream said, ‘do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you’ or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich,

“And he goes there, and then Man United say top of the list is Arteta, Arteta is going in and saying to the lads, ‘listen guys, it’s been emotional but I’ve got to move, I’ve got to go.'”

Arsenal are currently just two points off league leaders Liverpool and have looked exceptional in the month of February.

The north London club have won every single Premier League game they have played this month, scoring 18 goals and conceding just two in the process.

While Ten Hag faces an uphill battle to re-track Man Utd’s off-the-rails season.

The Manchester giants take their last swing at silverware on Wednesday when they face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round.

A trip to face noisy neighbours Man City then follows at the weekend in what could be a decisive week for the future of at-risk Ten Hag.
