THIS is the shocking moment a football fan is punched in the head and left covered in blood after the Manchester City v Huddersfield clash.

The brutal brawl broke out on a Metrolink tram service following Man City’s 5-0 win at the Etihad stadium on Sunday, January 7.

Disturbing footage showed two young lads being punched in the head by yobs in the packed carriage.

One victim kept his hands over his face in an attempt to block the blows, allegedly from a Huddersfield Town fan.

Meanwhile the other, wearing a Man City shirt, was seen with blood pouring down his face as he gripped onto the hand railings for support.

Concerned members of the public could be heard screaming and shouting: “Leave him, leave it”, as the victims’ mates tried to break up the gruesome attack.

A fellow passenger asked the injured footie fan: “Are you alright lad”, to which the shocked youngster nodded in response with a dazed look in his eyes.

Meanwhile, someone who captured the chaotic scene uploaded the video to X, and claimed: “Huddersfield Town Fan Smacked A City Fan With a Pint Glass”.

As reported by the MEN, Danny Vaughan, Head of Metrolink at Transport for Greater Manchester said: “TfGM has been made aware of an incident that took place on a Metrolink tram this evening following the Manchester City V Huddersfield game.

“Nobody has come forward at this stage to report the incident to Metrolink or Great Manchester Police (GMP), but we would encourage any witnesses and the person affected to get in touch with GMP directly as soon as possible.

“The safety of our passengers and staff is absolutely critical and we will be working closely with our Metrolink Operator, KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM) and GMP to assist in any way we can.”

This comes after other violent brawls have broken out after football games.

A brutal row involving 50 people came after a Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic match last year.

Disturbing scenes showed the pandemonium sparked on Market Street – which left one man in hospital and two arrested.

Similar chaos was unleashed outside a London pub, where footage showed a group of yobs throwing bottles and trying to kick down the door.

Men could be seen grappling and throwing punches in broad daylight, while one wielded a metal pole at alleged Millwall fans.
