PUNTERS are expecting Sir Alex Ferguson to hit the back of the net once again at the Cheltenham Festival.
Money has poured in for L’EAU DE SUD, who is owned by Fergie alongside Ged Mason and John Hales.
Sir Alex Ferguson with John Hales (L) and Ged Mason (R) after Protektorat’s Thursday win[/caption]The trio have already enjoyed huge success this week, with Sir Alex pocketing £275,000 after a huge double on Thursday.
It was started off by Monmiral’s 25-1 shocker in the Pertemps Nework Final, handing the legendary Manchester United manager his first winner at the Festival.
Things got even better in the next race, with Protektorat soaring to success in the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase for the Skelton brothers.
It was a big day for that pair too, with Harry Skelton pushing for top jockey honours at the meeting.
And punters are hoping the good form of Sir Alex and the Skeltons will continue with L’Eau De Sud.
He was last seen finishing second the Betfair Hurdle behind Iberico Lord, who was supplemented for the Champion Hurdle earlier this week.
The pair pulled clear of Go Dante, who won a valuable handicap at Sandown last Saturday.
The form is clearly very strong and punters are happy to look past the 6lb rise for that Newbury run.
He has been smashed into 7-2 favourite (from 13-2) with Boylesports, who have also seen lots of money for Galopin Des Champs in Friday’s feature – the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Whether we end up ahead for the week is up in the air, so it really is D-day at Cheltenham.
“Galopin Des Champs could well swing it for the punters in the Gold Cup. He’s been backed solidly since Christmas and they’re not letting up hours before the race.”
