The seven-time world champion has been open about his struggles with depression, which some have suggested is linked to his father’s absence.

Ronnie Snr was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted for the murder of Bruce Bryan, a driver to gangster Charlie Kray, and served 18 years.

O’Sullivan has not shied away from talking about his unconventional upbringing and in the documentary he spoke about the support from his father.

He revealed his dad told him: “You’re gonna be the best player in the world.”

The Rocket has become the most decorated snooker player of all time and has spent much of his career ranked No1 in the world.

O’Sullivan could have even more titles if it was not for his struggles with drink and drugs, which he believes cost him years of his career.

The 47-year-old has previously told of how his dad would drop him off at a snooker hall while he would go to work running sex shops in Soho.

O’Sullivan said: “He’d drop me off at a snooker hall and say: ‘OK, here’s the money for him to play all day. Let him do what he wants. Make sure he behaves. Keep an eye on him.’

“My dad used to call it a creche. He said: ‘It’s the best place for you to be. You weren’t out on the streets, being naughty, getting up to no good.’

“He was the one telling people, my boy is 10 years of age, he’ll be world champion. And he was right.”
