Bergvall was in the Spanish city with his family ready to head to the Nou Camp from his club Djurgarden before the dramatic U-turn.

The midfielder had a huge change of heart and instead opted to join Ange Postecoglou’s Premier League team.

Spurs will pay £8.5million for the teen plus several add-ons are included in that package.

Bergvall turns 18 today and is flying to North London to undergo his medical.

And then he will pen a five-year-contract after completing the formalities.

Fans of Spurs were delighted by the news – especially at the fact that their new boy had rejected Barcelona in favour of them.

And they even swooped on to Bergvall’s Wiki page and edited it to hilariously celebrate that fact.

The page now reads that “he became another in a series of players to reject one of Europe’s giants of yesterday for new-kings-of-the-block Tottenham Hotspur.”

“Tottenham are massive,” declared one fan after seeing the updated version.

“Who did this,” asked another as a third said that it was “brilliant”.

Tottenham did not have to complete the deal before last night’s transfer deadline.

That is because Bergvall was always going to join on July 1 ahead of next season rather than straight away.

But it is some coup for Postecoglou to land one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s 20-year-old striker Alejo Veliz has joined La Liga side Sevilla on loan.
