With Champions League qualification looking unlikely, Newcastle are interested in appointing Nagelsmann for next season, report Bild.
The 36-year-old is currently in charge of the German national team, having taken over in September on a deal until this summer’s Euros.
According to the report, though, he has yet to decide whether he will extend his contract or return to club football.
Nagelsmann has been away from club management since he was sacked by Bayern Munich in March 2023.
In another potential boost to Newcastle’s hopes, Nagelsmann is represented by the same agency as defender Fabian Schar.
Euro 2024 hosts Germany are set to take on Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland during the group stage this summer, with Nagelsmann currently preparing for his first tournament as boss.
