NEWCASTLE remain hopeful of signing Marc Guehi after launching a third bid.
The Magpies’ latest offer for the Crystal Palace defender matches the £60million they paid Real Sociedad for Alexander Isak in 2022.
England centre-back Marc Guehi could exit Palace for Newcastle[/caption]SunSport believes Guehi, 24, is open to moving to St James’ Park with his wages unlikely to be an issue for Toon.
Palace are still holding out for £65m but Newcastle are determined to get their man.
Guehi started against Nantes on Sunday after returning to Eagles’ training last week following his England exploits at Euro 2024.
Speaking after Saturday’s pre-season clash with Brest, Toon boss Eddie Howe said: “I am focusing on the players we do have.
“Other people are working away on various things and I’ll let them do that.”
However, Newcastle need to sell to balance the books due to Profit and Sustainability Rules.
And the Magpies reportedly considered offering England winger Anthony Gordon to Liverpool earlier in the transfer window.
The Reds, under new manager Arne Slot, are still said to be interested in the ex-Everton ace.

But Howe has stressed the 23-year-old remains dedicated to Newcastle.
The ex-Bournemouth chief said: “He has been exceptional, focused on his work, fitness, everything to do with this football club. No distractions.”
However, Howe added: “Naturally, with incomings there will be outgoings as well.
“I don’t mean literally everyone has a for sale sign on their head.
“We are still in a position where Financial Fair Play will affect our decision-making.
“We want to keep our best players, and we will fight tooth and nail to do that.”
