NICKY HENDERSON is relishing his embarrassment of riches as he unleashed another exciting novice.
Southoftheborder added his name to the list of Seven Barrows weaponry with a dominant display on hurdling debut at Sandown.
AlamyThe 8-15 shot predictably turned what looked to be a hot novice into a procession under Nico De Boinville.
The gelding cost a fair whack at £145,000 but, judging by Henderson’s excitement, it looks money well spent.
Henderson said: “He’s a proper horse, we haven’t taken half the wraps off him yet.
“Nico said he was lovely and he could have gone around again.
“The Listed race here on Tingle Creek weekend could be the sort of thing we’d look at.”
The Henderson novice league is topped by Supreme hope Willmount, who decimated his rivals on hurdling bow at Newbury.
He looked the real deal and Henderson described him as being ‘in a league of his own’ after winning by 13 lengths on the bridle.
Willmount is not the only horse exciting Henderson, however, who is chomping at the bit to get him out on track again.
Henderson added: “It’s nice because we’ve got a lot of good novices coming out at the moment.
“Willmount looked special the other day. He could head to the race that was the Kennel Gate – he’s very exciting.”
Willmount is a general 12-1 for the Supreme, with Southoftheborder hot on his heels at 20-1.
Henderson has won the race five times, with the likes of Altior, Shishkin and Constitution Hill.
