Around 20 minutes later the match was abandoned, with Finney requiring an ambulance.

It is understood Finney, 27, suffered a dislocated knee.

The National League South match was level at 0-0 prior to being halted.

The game will now be replayed at a later date.

Finney, 27, previously played for Leyton Orient, Bolton, QPR, Maidstone, Aldershot and Ebbsfleet.

He signed for Eastbourne last summer and had made 11 appearances for them prior to Tuesday’s game.

Plenty of fans were quick to wish Finney well on social media.

One wrote: “Thoughts with Alex and the team.”

While a second commented: “Thoughts with Alex and the team.”

A third posted: “All the best Alex.”

And another added: “Jeez! Very best wishes Finney!”

Eastbourne went into tonight’s match 22nd in the table, with their hosts Truro four points above them in 19th.

Finney has already had a long injury lay-off this season.

He returned to action against Chelmsford last month having previously been out since September.

His last injury lay-off ruled him out for 20 league matches.
