Since missing the opening month of the season through injury, the 21-year-old has started just two games for Dortmund, with 11 appearances off the bench.

However, Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo believes he can revive Reyna’s career at the City Ground.

He shares the same super agent as Reyna, Jorge Mendes, after the midfielder joined forces with the Portuguese star maker in December.

Reyna, son of former Rangers, Sunderland and Manchester City star Claudio Reyna, is seen as a major asset for Forest as he can play as a winger or operate as an attacking No.10.

Forest hope to conclude a deal with Dortmund over the next 24 hours.

Reyna moved to Dortmund’s academy from New York City in 2019 and broke into the senior side the following year.

In total, he’s scored 17 goals in 120 games for the Germans.

Meanwhile, SunSport can exclusively reveal that Forest are also hoping to strike a deal for Trevoh Chalobah.

The defender is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this season due to a long-term hamstring injury.

But Forest are keen on completing a loan deal for Chalobah this month.

And they also want the option to make it permanent in the summer.

Chalobah would become the second Chelsea player to join Forest this season should a move go through.

Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos joined them last summer on a loan deal.

But Chelsea recalled him this month after he made just two appearances at the City Ground.
