Nottingham Forest had stuck in well to frustrate the visitors but the resistance was finally broken in the 65th minute.

Jesus, 26, was able to fire past Turner despite shooting from a very tight angle.

And Arsenal fans flocked to social media to hail their former player following his blunder.

One fan posted: “Matt Turner, once a Gooner always a Gooner.”

A second joked: “Matt Turner getting frustrated that Arsenal couldn’t put the ball in the net so does it for them.”

A third wrote: “Best Arsenal contribution of Matt Turner’s career.”

A fourth commented: “Agent Matt Turner thank you.”

A fifth said: “Reminder: Matt Turner is a Gooner.”

Another added: “Matt Turner😂😂. Double agent.”

Turner joined Forest last summer for £10million on a contract running until 2027.

Since his arrival in the Midlands, the USA international has not been convinced and has made a number of errors.

Stats say he has made three errors that have led directly to goals for the opposition.

This has not helped Forest’s performances this season, which saw Steve Cooper get the sack in December.

The Welshman was replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, who has spoken about potentially adding another goalkeeper to his squad this month.

When asked about rumours linking the club to a new stopper, the manager said: “Anything can happen.

“We have been linked with 1,000 players.

“Among those, perhaps some of them are right. But the majority are totally wrong.”

Bukayo Saka doubled the visitors’ lead just seven minutes later.

It was not comfortable for Mikel Arteta‘s side as Taiwo Awoniyi netted in the 89th minute to make his return from injury.

However, the Gunners were able to hold on to claim all three points.
