Panathinaikos vs Chelsea preview
Chelsea return to Conference League action this week against Panathinaikos in Athens.
And it looks an ideal opportunity for Enzo Maresca’s side to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday – their first in eight games in all competitions.
It goes down as a loss, but Maresca’s side are undoubtedly on the up and still managed to produce more attempts at goal than their table-topping opponents that afternoon.
Chelsea are massive favourites to win the competition outright at 5/4 with most bookmakers, while their opponents are offered at 16/1.
Maresca heavily rotated his side for the 4-2 win against Gent at Stamford Bridge last time out, and will likely start with a similar XI against Panathinaikos.
That should see the likes of Christoper Nkunku, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto all start for the travelling Blues.
As for Diego Alonso’s side, they sit in sixth position in the Super League Greece having won only three of their opening eight matches.
They also had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Bosnian outfit Borac Banja Luka in their Conference League opener despite being odds-on favourites to win.

Panathinaikos vs Chelsea preview betting tips and predictions
Goalscorer
If in doubt, back Christoper Nkunku. The Frenchman, 26, hasn’t been able to break his way into Chelsea’s regular starting XI – but he’s doing everything he can to seize his opportunity.
Nkunku has scored seven goals in 12 appearances for the Blues this season – scoring on average once every 63 minutes. He’s netted three times in European competition and bagged a hat-trick against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
- Christoper Nkunku to score anytime at 7/5 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE
BTTS – NO
Chelsea should have more than enough to claim three points on Thursday evening – and they should do it with a clean sheet to boot.
Their opponents Panathinaikos aren’t full of goals – in fact they’ve scored two in their last four games in all competitions. They’ve also only managed ONE win in 18 games against English opposition.
- Both teams to score NO at 6/5 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE
