He posted to X on Tuesday morning in the wake of Arsenal’s 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United on Monday night.

Morgan wrote: “I doubted Arteta’s decision to replace Ramsdale with Raya. He was right.

“I doubted Arteta’s faith in Havertz. He was right.

“I doubted Arteta’s refusal to buy a striker in January. He was right.

“I’ve stopped doubting @m8arteta.”

Morgan had been vocal in his criticism of Arteta earlier this season for sticking with David Raya and Kai Havertz.

Meanwhile, the Gunners chose not to sign a new striker in January, despite being linked with several potential targets.

Arteta has been justified for his calls, though, with Monday’s win extending Arsenal’s winning start to 2024.

His side have won all seven of their Premier League matches this year and have scored 21 goals in their last four victories, conceding just once.

The win at Bramall Lane reduced the gap to league leaders Liverpool back down to just two points.

As a result, Arsenal will go top at least momentarily by beating Brentford on Saturday.

Title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City then face each other on Sunday.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Arteta said on Monday night: “There’s a lot of ifs. We have to prepare for the game really well and earn the right to win the game. If we do those and can win it, we will see.

“The energy is really good at the moment. When you are winning, everything is easier. We have to maintain momentum now.

“You learn from everything. We just hope we can be better and get more points than we did last season. We have some players back as well, that’s great news so let’s give it a go.”
